Through Anecdotes by the Sea, Samaniego captures the ethereal beauty and delicate balance of the natural world. By intertwining elements of reality with computational perception, the works invite viewers to step into a liminal space where the tangible meets the imagined, evoking a profound sense of wonder.

Unlike generative art that originates from code, Samaniego's technique is rooted in physical interaction. He begins by capturing real-world areas and objects, then translates them into point clouds—digital representations of spatial data. These point clouds are then animated and transformed through intricate simulations, followed by the careful choreography of camera movements.

This labour-intensive process, from physical capture to digital animation, relies on Samaniego’s deep personal engagement, emphasising craftsmanship and authorship—two concepts often debated in the context of digital art. In this series, all point clouds were created from scenes in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
