Josue Ibañez
Josue Ibañez (b. Oaxaca, Mexico) is a media artist based in Mexico City. His work builds a visual language around adaptation: how nature finds what we left behind and grows over it, through it, into forms that did not exist before. His installations have been presented at The Sphere (Las Vegas), the Tiffany Wonder Exhibition (Tokyo), Barcelona Design Museum, SXSW (Austin), Omega Mart: Meow Wolf (Las Vegas), and Day for Night (Houston).
His practice is rooted in the idea that nature has always been speaking, and that some civilizations learned to listen. His previous projects have explored biometric data as creative input, sacred geometry as visual structure, and immersive environments as a way to place the viewer inside systems that are normally invisible. Ceiba continues this investigation. It does not illustrate Mayan myth. It translates a cosmology that was carried for centuries into a contemporary visual experience, letting nature do what it has always done: adapt it, reclaim it, and make it new.
