“I enjoy playing Tetris, and I find piecing together a painting is surprisingly similar to playing the game. I love the challenge of rearranging pieces of traditional, digital and print media and watching all these elements disappear into a cohesive whole. Moving from computer to canvas and vice versa, I find myself exploring the profound yet often unnoticed influence of socioeconomic policies on our daily lives. Through allegorical collages, I reflect the effect of these influences, using my art as a means to elevate my human experience.”

Abdulrahman Adesola Yusuf (b. 1997) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spins digital illustration, photography, and painting. Using collage as a central mode of expression, Adesola draws from both digital and traditional techniques, shifting between vibrant, contrasting colours and moody, muted palettes that lend his subjects a haunting, elusive presence.


Adesola’s work investigates the complexities of the human condition, with particular attention to the ways in which governmental structures and public policy shape lived experience. His practice reflects on how these forces influence not only social and material realities, but also transcend to almost spiritual dimensions.
