Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Hayk Zakoyan is a multifaceted media artist, visual programmer, VJ, lighting designer and musician known for his compelling visuals, interactive media, and immersive lighting design.
Zakoyan began with generative art, creating motion-infused depictions of "out of this world" imagery. His work visualises simulations of various natural phenomena, including plant growth, hybrids of multiple plant species, micro and macro worlds, corrosion, soil particle shifts, and the effects of gravity.
The artist employs custom-developed sound analysis algorithms, particle system algorithms, AI and data to create generative art. By integrating a noise generator with sound analysis and leveraging the physics and randomness of nature, his work transforms auditory and environmental data into unique visual forms.
Zakoyan primarily works with natural colours, analysing the shades of his surroundings—plants, soil, and landscapes—through his custom algorithms to incorporate these as sources of light in his art. He also uses shades of grey, inviting viewers to meaningfully "colour" the scenes according to their interpretation.
Hayk, a professional guitarist and composer, collaborated with many musicians, including Artbat, Mathamme, Max Cooper, Luidji, Jimi Jules, Mattia Cupelli, and David Usher.
