Àsìkò

Àsìkò is a visual artist whose practice navigates the intersection of his Nigerian heritage and British upbringing, exploring themes of cultural identity, displacement, and hybridity. Born in the United Kingdom and raised in Nigeria, he draws on these dual experiences to produce work that both celebrates African culture and challenges conventional beauty standards, offering expanded perspectives on Black identity.

Working across photography, sculpture, collage, AI, and film, Àsìkò develops emotionally resonant, autobiographical narratives that integrate African spirituality, Yoruba cosmology, and feminist thought. His work frequently centres the Black body, examining questions of identity, gender, and power within wider socio-political and diasporic frameworks.
